Astha is in the final year of her Business Degree in the Alberta School of Business with a major in Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Management. She enjoys being involved in her school and community which is why this past year she was the Events Director for the school’s Management and Business Strategy club. This summer, Astha has the opportunity of being an intern at Goodwill Industries of Alberta as a Recruitment Coordinator.
In addition to this, in the coming year, she is thrilled to be the Events VP for the University of Alberta Human Resource Management Association.
Astha is very excited to take on the role of External Director for NEW this year as she truly believes in the power of community. She is eager to be a part of a team that creates a space for women to feel heard and encouraged to achieve their goals.
In her free time, you can find Astha exploring the city for new foods and adventures. She finds the most joy when spending time with her friends and
participating in dance.
Aleksandra, also known as Ola, is currently in her final year of her Bilingual Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Marketing and a part of the Business Co-op Program. Over the past 4 years, she has immersed herself within various student groups across campus such as the Business Students’ Association, Women in Business, and the PINK Campus Team; paired with her continuous marketing involvement in local companies. After attending the 2021 and 2022 NEW Conferences as a delegate, she was eager to join the team to plan a conference that will leave individuals as empowered and supported as she had felt.
Having communication at the core of the many marketing roles she has engaged in previously, Aleksandra is thrilled to take on the role of VP External for the 2023 NEW Executive
Team to fulfill a successful conference for everyone involved. Her dedication to piecing elements together and her attentiveness will help foster new connections and strengthen existing relations whilst sharing her passion toward
Outside of university, Aleksandra has an eye for style, a passion for dance, and an enthusiasm for travelling, and loves exploring bakeries and coffee shops, especially trying many London Fogs. She also has a twin sister! (Although you won’t spot her doppelgänger since they look nothing alike).
Tashya is in her third year at the University of Alberta with a major in Accounting. She had first heard about NEW when it first started, through her sister, and aspired to join the club herself when she started university. Tashya has always been very passionate about female empowerment and learning about teaching women how to reach their full potential.
Tashya loves spending time with her family and friends, trying out new places to eat all around Edmonton and travelling to visit family back in Sri Lanka. She is very excited to be a part of the executive team for 2023 and help the women around her support and
