OUR STORY
WOMEN EMPOWERING WOMEN
Founded in January 2012 by female Bachelor of Commerce students, the Network of Empowered Women (NEW) is an undergraduate student group at the University of Alberta School of Business. NEW’s primary focus is a four-day annual national conference that will take place at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge in Kananaskis Village that brings together 100 student delegates from across Canada with inspiring leaders from a multitude of sectors in the Alberta and Canadian community. The conference consists of numerous keynote presentations, breakout and workshop sessions, networking/social events, delegate challenges, and much more, all aimed at fulfilling the mission of women empowerment.
Empower
Ultimately, NEW hopes that each delegate feeds off the connections made, the newfound connections made, the newfound internal and external awareness and the stories and experiences shared to BE empowered to pursue any path they choose for their futures.
Connect
During the conference, delegates will have the opportunity to cultivate personal and professional communities. Our student-to-corporate ratio is approximately 3:1, providing the opportunity for intimate one-on-one exchanges of knowledge, experience, and support.
Reflect
The conference encourages delegates to become aware of their potential by facilitating conversation and reflection on themselves, their passions, their skills and aspirations, in both personal and professional capacities.
Inspire
Delegates will draw inspiration from the stories and experiences of our industry representatives in attendance, along with those of their fellow student delegates, helping them to uncover potential aspirations and motivating them to pursue these aspirations.
