Tashya Perera

CO-CHAIR

Tashya is currently in her fourth year at the University of Alberta, pursuing a major in Accounting. She first heard about NEW when her sister was on the team in 2015. Inspired by her sister's involvement, Tashya aspired to join the club herself after joining university and took on the role of External Director in 2022. Passion for female empowerment has always been a driving force in Tashya's life, motivating her to help women realize their full potential.

Beyond her academic pursuits, she enjoys quality time with her family and friends, exploring new places in Edmonton, and visiting her family in Sri Lanka.

In her current role as Co-Chair, Tashya is so excited to contribute to an exceptional team that shares her dedication to women's empowerment. She wholeheartedly believes in the mission and offerings of NEW and is looking forward to orchestrating an outstanding conference in 2024.

After hearing about the NEW conference from peers, she became motivated to join the organization that focuses on empowering, connecting, and inspiring women. Sofia was on the 2023 executive team as a logistics director and is excited to be back this year!

Ultimately, as Co-Chair, Sofia is excited for the NEW 2024 Conference and to create an engaging and immersive conference for the delegates and corporates! Sofia enjoys surrounding herself with like-minded individuals as she is also a committee member for Shine Bright Be Fearless, a female empowerment non-for-profit. In her free time, Sofia loves skiing, golfing, and hanging out with friends. She also loves traveling and hopes there will be more traveling in the upcoming year.
